Travel and Ground Transport

(Munich, Germany)

Munich Airport (MUC) Travel and Transport: Airport photographMunich International Airport has a highly comprehensive selection of ground transfer options. Passengers arriving at the airport can decide on their mode of transport based on cost and convenience.

Public bus and train services provide the cheapest options while taxis and limousines are certainly more expensive but also more comfortable. Free hotel shuttles are provided for many as part of holiday packages.

Buses

Buses run from the airport to a variety of destinations including Ausburg, Erding, Freising, Salzburg and Wartenberg.
The Autobus Oberbayern company operates services between the airport and Munich Hauptbahnhof.

Shuttle Buses

Door to door transfer services are provided by a number of private companies and are available by prior agreement only. A large number of downtown destinations are covered.

Hotel Shuttles

Reputable hotels such as the Arabella Sheraton Hotel, Munich Marriott Hotel, and Munich Best Western Hotel offer pick-up services for passengers staying at their establishments. Travellers are advised to communicate with their proposed hotel ahead of arrival at the airport to establish pick-up times.

Trains

The S-Bahn rail service operates from the airport to a variety of Munich destinations. The S1 service runs to Ostbahnhof going via Neufahrn, Moosach, Laim, Munich Hauptbahnhof and Marienplatz. From Hauptbahnhof and Ostbahnhof, connections to mainline services are available.

Taxi Cabs

Taxis are available from outside of the terminal and run to the city centre and all reasonable Munich locations, however this is likely to be a costly option.

Limousines

Limousine pick-up services are provided by a large number of companies, some with counters in the airport, others based in the city. The Munich International Airport (MUC) website provides the full list of limousine service providers: www.munich-airport.de
